The estate is situated at the crossroad of old paths that in the 19th century were accessed on foot or on animals back. Siena is 22 Km away, Volterra 23 Km.  12Km away lays San Gimignano, the town with magnificent towers. Florence is 55 Km away, the sea jewels of Tuscany (Cecina, Castiglioncello, Punta Ala,  Argentario) are between 60 to 80 Km away. Rome is at 2 hours of car.   The rural landscape, still reminiscent of the 19th century, is characterized by oak trees (quercus peduncolata) and by the solemn building of the village masters. The surrounding woods were already renowned for wild boars hunting and for the timber supplied to the salt mines in the Volterra area.   The estate spreads for about 250 hectares around the ancient village. There are ponds and springs that make it completely self-sufficient for its water supply. The estate lays besides other rural estates that stretch as far as the eyes can see, and in which excursions can be organized from one to several days.   The woods, wonderful for talking relaxing walks, are rich of small fruits in spring, chestnuts in autumn, and mushrooms and truffles in the right season.   But the true master of the woods is the wild boar, easily seen between live oaks and ash trees.
