Description
This 3 bedroom and 2 bath country home nestled in the heart of 80 acres of natural beauty, has a detached bonus room that includes a large hex-shaped recreation room with vaulted ceilings. The house itself is about 1500 square feet in size, not including the garage. The detached bonus room contributes an additional 900 sq.ft. of interior living space. There is lots of room for exercise equipment, a pool table, a ping pong table, etc. This bonus building also has its own bathroom and shower, and an office. The home, recreational hall, and office has just under 2400 sq. feet of living space with 3 bathrooms. The private drive itself is very scenic, that secludes the home about a third of a mile from the main black topped road. From the driveway's entrance atop a hill, the drive winds through a wooded area we call Weaver's hill. From there it bursts into a large open field. As the road begins to crest at its highest point in the field, you will pass a grape orchard of french hybrid wine grapes. As the road descends toward this beautiful country home, you will pass by a green barn on the right, providing a place for parking tractors, trucks, and other equipment. It also houses a well lighted air conditioned wood working shop with wooden floors and lots of cabinets, shelves, and racks for tools. As you enter the parking area for the home you will first notice a large and long bed of flowers several feet long along the north side of the drive. A little closer to the house a rock retaining wall made of natural stone gleaned from the property. Our home is nestled into the trees at the west end of a scenic field that stretches outward and upward toward the east. On either side of the field is a forest of trees. The house sits along the edge of a natural ridge so that the ground slopes away from the house to the south, west, and north. There is a narrow band of neatly trimmed trees on the slope between the house and the bottomland fields and river that it overlooks to the tress on the slope to the south and west. It is a very scenic park-like atmosphere. The many windows of this house take full advantage of the views. Don't worry about neighbors, because there are none in sight of this home, so window treatments are minimized to enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding country side. This home has an inviting front porch and a winding side walk leading to it. There is a winding natural stone sidewalk leading from the house to the bonus building, with many neatly manicured flowerbeds and raised terraced beds of natural stone and moss that is pleasing to the eye along the way. Out back there is a wooden deck with netted gazebo for early morning orange juice and watching the evening sunset. As you tour the home, the living room with its many windows looks out toward the open field to the east. Often we have seen deer, turkey, and bobcat crossing the drive to the house. Because of the many windows and light, this home has an open feel to it so that it flows very naturally into the dining room and kitchen from the living room. The dining room has french doors leading to the deck. There is a breakfast bar between it and the kitchen area. This full equipped kitchen is very bright and airy with a large four by eight foot long window overlooking the river valley, all along the west wall where the sink is located. Just off the kitchen is the utility room with built in cabinetry, washer and dryer, and a walk in pantry as well as an additional utility closet. This room serves as a mud room that leads to the very spacious garage. The master bedroom has a walk in closet with custom made built ins for lots of storage. This bedroom has windows all along the south and west sides for a wonderful view of the wildlife that's frequently seen in these bottomland fields. During the summer months we often turn off the air conditioner and open the windows to enjoy the fresh cool breeze that comes up from the river bottom at night and the many sounds of nature. Some of the noises include the whippoorwills, owls, turkey, quail, coyote, frogs, etc.The guest bedroom has its own bathroom and is on the opposite side of the house to the Master bedroom, which makes visitors feel right at home and very comfortable. The master bath is quite elegant with a genuine antique clawfoot tub all reporcelained with new fixtures sitting on a raised floor in front of a five by five picture window tented for privacy, so that you have a wonderful view overlooking the fields of the river bottom as you bathe. The vanity is new with marble top and there is a new linen closet with lots of storage as well as a large shower. There is an additional bedroom with a generous closet and two large windows to take full advantage of the views and night time summer breezes.Because of our homes location on a ridge projecting out over the river bottom, it seems to collect sounds from afar off, like a gigantic ear. If you love birds, this home is a nature lovers dream. Because of its unique location along a ridge between the lowlands of the river and highlands above the ridge, you see birds that are native to both habitats. The diversity of birds around this home is remarkable. you will see many species of woodpeckers including the very large pileated woodpecker. Blue birds, cardinals, hummingbirds, indigo buntings, painted buntings, scarlet tanagers, finches, orioles, and hosts of other birds call this home.Located between Tulsa and Oklahoma City just south of Highway 66, it is very convenient to travel to either. Also, we are only 11 miles from the nearest super Walmart and 8 miles to Bristow, Oklahoma. It is a nice small town that has much to offer. This is not your typical 80 acre farm. Most places are rather mundane, but this land contains a great deal of topographical diversity. About half of the property is upland and about half is river bottom. There is about 40 acres of wooded area and about 40 acres of fields. Situated a few hundred yards from the back of the house, is a large sandy creek that enters the property on the north and exits to the south. The highest elevation is along the east of the property and the lowest along the west. 80 acres means that the distance from the main road that runs along the eastern boundary of the property to the back of the property is exactly half of a mile long and the property is one fourth of a mile across. The distance around the property's perimeter is one and half miles. There are also some large rock formations on this property to explore, especially along a ridge west of the creek. This formation is probably more than a 100 yards in length. When I was a child I really enjoyed growing up and playing in and around these big rocks. It is also a place you will on occasion find Indian artifacts. Very recently in spring of 2008, I found an arrow head near the barn along the side of the driveway. The advalorem taxes on this property costs us just under $700.00 per year. We also have both natural gas and electric. Both bills together usually average out to be about $150.00 a month for the year. This well insulated brick home was built of antique brick recycled from the demolition of Bristow's first hospital that was down in the seventies. The central heat and air system is only about 1 year old. Likewise the roof of the house was replaced about 2 years ago. The entire home has been newly refurbished and painted inside and out. It is immaculate and move-in ready. The water is well water. This property sits atop one of the largest aquifers in the United States. There is an ocean of water beneath this farm. You could open your own water bottling company and never run out of water. It is great tasting water. There are many surface springs on this property as well. One is of particular interest which lies in the woods to the south and east of the house. If a large dam was constructed extending southward from the ridge upon which the house sits across the valley floor to other ridge, it would dam up this natural spring to create a spring fed natural lake of about 12 acres in size. You could have a large private lake just steps away from your porch. If you like to hunt and eat morel mushrooms you will find them on this property every year. If you enjoy cooking out or smoking things with hickory, you have an endless supply of hickory right in your own back yard. There are manymore pleasant surprise hidden within this property that are too numerous to mention. I am hoping that a person who truly loves nature will purchase this property. It would be a great place to retire. It is a great place for grandchildren to come to. It is also a wonderful place to raise children. It could be used as a Christian retreat or even make into a time share property for people who are looking for a place to escape the madness of city living. This is a very peaceful place. This property is located right in the heart of the cross-timbers. The cross-timbers is an oak-hickory association that separates the eastern deciduous forests of the U.S. fomr the prairies of the Great Plains. It stretches from the heart of Texas up through the eastern part of Oklahoma and into southern Kansas and MIssouri. There are many species of trees, plants, birds, and animals in this area. Having grown up on this farm as a little boy, I can tell you it is a child's paradise. The creek is sandy and clean with lots of fish eager to be caught. It has large sand bars to play on, natural grape vines to cut and swing on, and the water is just right for wading, swimming, and playing in. It is spring fed in many places. This beautiful 3 Bedroom and 2 Bath home with living room, kitchen, dining area, utility room, and large recreation area with office and bathroom, along with shop and additional parking plus a large storage shed for garden equipment, and garage is move-in ready. This also includes 80 acres of natural beauty and a french hybrid grape vineyard, ALL FOR $430,000. Email for more pictures...
